Product Specialist, OTC Commodities
About the Company
The company is a fintech startup backed by some of the world’s leading investment banks, building a next-generation data brokerage platform. They are transforming how OTC derivatives valuation data is collected, validated, aggregated, anonymized, and distributed—supporting banks’ valuation control needs while creating high-quality, monetizable data products for buy-side clients.
The Role
As Product Specialist, OTC Commodities, you’ll sit at the intersection of data, product, and clients, with a primary focus on the commodities asset class. You’ll work directly with investment banks and buy-side firms to support onboarding, explain data methodologies, and ensure clients extract maximum value from the commodities datasets. You’ll also play a key role in shaping and expanding commodities data product coverage across energy, metals, and agricultural derivatives.
This is a highly visible, externally facing role with direct influence on product direction, client adoption, and revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Act as a primary point of contact for data-related discussions with investment banks and buy-side clients.
- Support client onboarding and ongoing engagement, ensuring a smooth understanding and adoption of data products.
- Explain data methodologies, aggregation logic, anonymization approaches, and product coverage in a clear, credible way.
- Gather client feedback and translate it into product requirements and enhancements.
- Lead the development and expansion of OTC commodities data products, covering energy (oil, gas, power), metals, and agricultural derivatives, identifying coverage gaps and working with internal teams to fill them.
- Work closely with internal data strats, engineering, and commercial teams to align client needs with platform capabilities.
- Support sales and commercial discussions by acting as a subject-matter expert on OTC data and market structure.
- Represent the company in client meetings, workshops, and industry discussions.
Requirements
- Strong experience in OTC commodities derivatives and financial market data.
- Background working at a data vendor, market data provider, or within the commodities trading, finance, valuation, or control function of an investment bank or energy major.
- Deep expertise in OTC commodities products, including energy (oil, gas, power, LNG), metals (base and precious), and agricultural derivatives, with familiarity across their valuation and risk conventions.
- Comfortable explaining complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Product mindset—able to identify opportunities to turn data into scalable, commercial products.
- No coding required, but must be highly data-literate and comfortable engaging with technical teams.
What is Offered
- A fast-moving, high-impact startup environment where you will help define and build out cutting-edge OTC commodities data products.
- Direct engagement with major investment banks and sophisticated buy-side clients.
- Significant influence over product strategy and data expansion as the company scales.
- Unusual stability for a startup, backed by some of the world’s largest banks, who function as both clients and shareholders.
- Competitive compensation and benefits, including healthcare, dental, and vision.
