Our clientis looking for an exceptional candidate to join their investment team as an Associate Partner. You’ll be based in London, and will lead or co-lead investments in startups across Europe.
As an Associate Partner, you will be tasked with actively identifying, sourcing and executing technology investments for the firm. Each month they intersect with a huge number of businesses, most which approach them, and the first challenge is to figure out which the team should spend time considering. It’s essential to prioritize, filter thematically and assess quickly and thoroughly.
They don’t wait for the pitches to roll in, however. As important is the outbound work, building relationships with the most ambitious founders across Europe before they’re necessarily planning to fundraise. They’re a small team with a lot of ground to cover, don’t often miss something great but they all take it personally if they do.
As for the people, you’ll be joining two co-founders with decades of experience as investors and operators in Europe and Silicon Valley. They founded the firm in 2014 as a small equal partnership by design, and you can expect an open and straightforward culture. Also important, their values drive their behaviour and the same goes for everyone on their team. Their style is socratic, no-nonsense and collegiate, so being able to challenge others and defend your opinions is essential. Everyone at the firm looks out for each other and they laugh a lot too.
As an Associate Partner you will:
Identify and source Series A investment opportunities, building conviction and presenting the case to the partnership
Lead and/or sponsor new investments -- winning the hearts and minds of founders
Steward and manage the investment, assisting the founders typically including serving on the portfolio company board in the capacity of Director and/or Observer
Carry yourself as an ambassador for the firm and always endeavor to pursue what is best for the firm, their LPs and portfolio companies
Mentor and provide guidance to other members of the team
Design and execute projects such as thematic events to help the firm and/or their portfolio companies
There’s also an internal element:
Their own investors are central to what they do, and you’ll take part in keeping them informed, helping to prepare materials for quarterly updates and their annual meeting.
